It seems former NFL star-turned-Alouette Chad Johnson is having some trouble adjusting to Montreal's unique language situation.

On Tuesday, Johnson — the player formerly known as Chad Ochocinco — sent a tweet to mayor Denis Coderre, saying he's received 15 parking tickets since he arrived in Montreal, and says he can't understand the street signs, adding he only seems to get them outside Stogies, McDonald's and Starbucks.

Coderre, meantime, tweeted back, saying simply, "Wanna talk Ocho?"

Johnson also tweeted he used the metro to get to a team meeting at Oympic Stadium this morning because of his parking ticket issues.

Among the people who tweeted him in response to his Twitter lament was a man named Mathieu Rompré, who asked him why he couldn't learn just a few words in French.

He replied that he "came here for love", and then replied directly to him in rough French to say that it's "too early to be negative."

The 36-year-old Johnson is in his first season with the Alouettes, after a decade spent in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals, New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.

That's one way of looking at it.. but just perhaps, it's the lack of bilingual signs?

@anne I guess if he doesn't know the name for the days of the week it can get difficult since most signs are Lundi - Jeudi 10h00 - 14h00 or something along those lines depending on where you are.
