Public health directors resign over moonlighting ban

Yves Bolduc may have been able to work simultaneously as a doctor and an MNA and but the Health Ministry has told the people who run public health offices that they are not permitted to moonlight as doctors.

La Presse reports that, as a result, six regional public health directors have resigned in recent days.

The Health Ministry says being a director of public health is a full time job and people accepting the position acknowledge that when they agree to be paid a manager's salary instead of under the pay provisions for physicians.

The starting pay for a public health director is $180,000.
