A funeral was held today for Jean Garon.
The former longtime Parti Quebecois minister and mayor of Levis, near Quebec City, died July 1st at the age of 76.
A number of political figures were in attendance, including interim PQ leader Stephane Bedard, PQ MNA Pierre-Karl Peladeau and former PQ minister Guy Chevrette.
The dean of the National Assembly, PQ MNA Francois Gendron, also attended, remebering his former colleague as a man of conviction, who was determined.
Garon, one of the founders of the Parti Quebecois, was part of the first PQ government under Rene Levesque.
One of Garon's proudest accomplishments was getting legislation passed to protect Quebec farmland.
