UPDATE: Pedestrian hit by cab out of danger

An update on the pedestrian who was hit by a taxi early Sunday morning.

Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture says his condition has improved.

"He was initially transported to hospital in a critical state, but right now he is in stable condition and we do not fear for his life.

The accident happened around 3:15 a.m.

A cabbie, driving southbound, hit the 25-year old man.

The taxi then swerved and collided with another vehicle.

Both the cab driver and the motorist in the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries.

It appears the pedestrian was crossing on a red light.

St. Urbain between Prince Arthur and St. Cuthbert is now open to traffic.
