A woman riding an STM bus during rush hour Friday says a few passengers were injured after the bus driver’s irresponsible driving led to an accident.
The Montreal woman tells CJAD News she got on the 90 bus at Atwater just after 5 p.m. Friday.
The bus was driving down Sainte-Catherine street towards Westmount when the driver slammed on his break to avoid hitting a car, that he told police, cut him off.
“The bus driver had taken on too many people, we were jammed like sardines, there were children everywhere, people literally went flying in the air,” she said.
The passenger says she was sitting but needed to be transported to hospital, after she hit her head and neck.
“I had blood coming out of my ear, I was in terrible, people were crying and screaming. The bus driver never came to speak with us.”
She says the driver was not driving responsibly and she wants coverage for her medication.
A police spokesperson says their investigation found the accident was not criminal. The police report said some passengers suffered minor injuries.
The woman says six to eight people were transported to hospital.
The STM says victims of road accidents must file a claim with the SAAQ to receive compensation. It says if a complaint is logged an internal investigation into the driver’s conduct will begin.
