Suspect in Calgary disappearances facing murder charges

A man has been arrested and now faces three murder charges in connection with the disappearance of a five-year-old Calgary boy and his grandparents.

Calgary police say a man — whose name wasn't released — was brought up on murder charges in connection with the disappearances of 5-year-old Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents, Kathryn and Alvin Liknes.

He faces two charges of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree murder — even though their bodies have not yet been found.

An Amber Alert that was issued when they disappeared on June 29 was also lifted.
