High-tech drug deliveries to prisoners

Access to information requests have revealed a new way Quebec prisoners are smuggling drugs inside prison walls.

Since 2011, two drones have been spotted above Quebec prisons, and three others have been seized by prison officials.

The high-tech method has replaced the more old-school methods, such as throwing tennis balls or arrows over the fence, according to a report in La Presse.

The drones were spotted over the Saint-Jerome prison, as well as at the institution in Hull.

About 86 prisoners have been caught with illegal substances inside jail between 2008 and 2013, according to data from the public security ministry.

The problem is our whole judicial system. Put netting over the open spaces of prisons. When a prisoner gets caught with illegal substances, you double his sentence. They'll learn quickly.
