Cats burned by scalding hot oil

CTV News

A number of stray cats have been found with serious burns in the St-Jerome area, believed to have been caused by hot oil.

One woman told the Journal she found three cats with serious burns since last winter.

A cat came to the woman’s home, she said, seeking shelter from the blistering cold temperatures. She noticed the cat smelled like oil – so strong it made her eyes water.

The woman, who asked not to be identified, has been sharing troubling photos of the cats on social media, hoping to bring attention to the issue.

The SPCA reported there were nearly 1100 cases of maltreatment of animal in 2013. Negligence had affected 2846 animal in the same year.

Animals beaten, starved, abandoned, tortured, SPCA inspectors have seen them all.

Anita Papuscinska, spokesperson for the SPCA, has repeatedly told CJAD News, laws need to change.

This is why I have no respect for fellow humans. Stories like this bring our a fact that may piss a lot of people off but here goes and it's the truth: If there was a fire and I had to choose between a baby human and baby animal or a human and animal in general, I would choose to rescue the animal any day just because the human race is so pathetic.

That person who stopped for the ducks has respect in my eyes.

There are MANY sick, sick, sick people out there... more than we think. Stories like this absolutely break my heart and wonder, "if people treat animals like this, how do they treat themselves and their children?"... animals have no voice and born out of innocence. It is NEVER right to hurt ANY animal under ANY circumstance. The city (and world in fact), need much tougher and striker laws concerning domestic pets; they must all be sterilized as soon as they reach the required age. Human ignorance is the root of the problem when it comes to animal overpopulation, neglect and abuse. Animals are NOT disposable objects; they have feelings and emotions, just like you and I. Would you ever throw your child when you became feed up of them, or when they had an accident on the floor? Would you throw them in the streets to fend for themselves and starve? NO. So why would someone do this to an animals... sick individuals out there. What have we become as a human race? Where is our humanity and compassion?

The evilness in people just makes me so sick... I hope that the police and SPCA are looking to find out who did this... This cannot go unpunished .. Simply can't !
