A Paralympics swimmer is asking for the public's help to recover his medals after they were stolen from his Longueuil home.

Thieves stole seven medals from Benoit Huot home's over the weekend.

The Longueuil police department says the items were stolen, among other things, overnight Saturday while no one was home.

“We’re asking anybody with information about the medals, if they see them, or if someone tries to sell them, to call 911,” constable Mark David said.

Huot brought home 19 medals from the Paralympics.

He says they do not have much commercial value but are precious to him and he is hoping someone will tip police to their whereabouts.

David says the thieves could also mail them back anonymously.

“The athletes work so hard to receive these medals it would be great to get them back to him,” David said.
