Both the Israeli government and Hamas have accepted an Egyptian cease-fire proposal to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

A preliminary 72-hour truce will begin early tomorrow morning Eastern time, and in the next three days, an Israeli delegation will head to Egypt for talks on a long-term truce.

Palestinian officials already have accepted the Egyptian proposal, while the Israelis are said to be skeptical since previous cease-fire plans have quickly collapsed.
