Jail-escapee Robert Gaudette recaptured

Quebec provincial police confirmed Robert Gaudette, the 55-year-old serving a life sentence for murdering his wife, has been recaptured after a week on the lam. 

Gaudette escaped the Montée-Saint-Francois minimum security prison in Laval on July 29th, by hopping out a window.

Officials say he was accounted for during a 2:00 a.m. headcount but was missing three hours later.

Quebec City police found him Sunday night walking on Grande-Allée in Quebec City, he was arrested and reportedly did not resist. 

The man will be facing charges in court Monday, in addition to his existing conviction.

Gaudette murdered his wife after returning home from a softball game, he threw her body in the garbage. He was sentenced in 2002.
