Alleged threats to defence lawyer and attempted robbery keep SPVM busy

Montreal police had a busy night Tuesday between an attempted robbery and a case of a man allegedly uttering threats to a Quebec lawyer.

The SWAT team was called in to make an arrest in N.D.G. last night after alleged threats were made against a defence lawyer around 8 p.m.

"The SWAT team arrested the man at the corner of [Sherbrooke St. and Melrose Ave.]," said police spokesperson Dany Richer.

"Everything went fine, and the man of 56 years old is expected in court [later today]."

Police are also investigating an armed robbery downtown.

A man in his 30s suffered serious injuries to his upper body after he was held up near the intersection of Atwater Ave. and Sherbrooke St. around 10:30 p.m. last night.

He is expected to survive.
