Education Minister Yves Bolduc says despite $400 million dollars in announced cuts , neither school programs nor student services will be affected.
In an interview with La Presse, he also indicated that Quebec will have no problem paying for new schools.
As for school taxes, Bolduc said he expected increases will mirror the cost of living, adding cleaning up bureaucracy and merging some services will save money.
Yves Bolduc also intends to review the financing of colleges and universities.
He reiterated that programs will be put in place to deliver intensive English lessons to students as early as the 6th grade in elementary schools and 4 year olds going to kindergarten in disadvantaged areas will also benefit from a new curriculum.
