Catholic priest was often at odds with his church

Raymond Gravel, a Catholic priest who briefly served as a Bloc Quebecois MP, has died of lung cancer at the age of 61.

He was in office from 2006 to 2008, and was known for taking positions on issues like abortion and gay marriage that were at odds with those of his church.

He also supported the idea of allowing priests to marry, and ordaining women.
