Tributes are pouring in for Montreal designer Frederic Metz, who died of cancer last Saturday, at the age of 70.

Born in Switzerland, Metz arrived in Montreal during Expo 67.

He was a founding member of the School of Fashion and Design Centre at UQAM.

As a designer, Metz left his mark everywhere, Mirabel Airport, Hotel Le Meridien, the restaurants at the Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Montreal, the black logo on Browns shoes, and he was even logo designer for Oscar de la Renta .

No doubt, somewhere in Montreal you've seen the work of Frederic Metz.
