Boil water advisory in Carignan

Low water pressure in Carignan is forcing the south shore town to send out a boil water advisory.

A fire last evening that destroyed the former Carignan flea market is at the root of the problem, triggering a sharp drop in water pressure — below 20 pounds per square inch.

Until further notice, town officials are urging residents to boil their water for at least a minute before consuming — as a preventative measure.

They expect the situation to return to normal by the start of the weekend, at the earliest.
