Fire engulfs the former Carignan flea market

The fire broke out at the former flea market at 2375 Chambly Rd.

The abandoned former flea market Marché aux Puces 5 Étoiles in Carignan erupted into flames Tuesday evening.

Police say the wooden building is a complete loss.

Around 5:30 p.m., dozens of firefighters were called to the vacant building in the Monteregie at 2375 Chambly Rd.

The cause of the south shore fire has not yet been determined.

No one was injured in the fire, the building has been vacant since December 2012.
