Drainville: Drop "sovereignty" for "independence"

Bernard Drainville appears to be laying the groundwork for a run at the leadership of the Parti Quebecois.

In a blog post last night entitled " Province or country?" Drainville says it's time the party focus on its ultimate goal.

He writes that the notion of  sovereignty should be set aside in favour of independence, despite criticism from opponents who claims the PQ are disconnected from reality.

Drainville also says the fundamental question should be clear regarding Quebec remaining a province of Canada or becoming an independent country.

He also calls on disgruntled members of the Parti Quebecois who voted for another party or stayed at home during the last election to come back into the fold to build a "new PQ".

Drainville is considered a possible candidate for the leadership to replace Pauline Marois.

He says he is still considering the possibility but has not yet made a decision.

Didn't PKP try the same thing we he torpedoed Queen Pauline in the (to use a lesser word) flank with his fist pumping revelation, and here poor Bernie missed the whole election night I guess when 3/4's of the population of the PROVINCE of Quebec pumped back and threw the clan to the curb for Tuesday morning pick-up. Funny for a man that is supposed to listen to the population he does not get what they are trying to say.

Keep on talking Drain Brain, you're only hurting yourself, but you can join your friend from the Bloc. His colleagues are jumping the sinking ship & looking for friends to join him.

@jonico He is doing us a big favor, the more the king of hypocracy, Draino, spews this independence garbage the more the younger generation will be adverse to supporting something they can not relate to. He's only appeasing the dying separatist breed and they will eventually end up old and too frail to vote in the future.

We so need another option in Quebec but one that has no ties to the independence of Quebec as their mantra. Bernard would be a great choice as a new leader of the PQ it would ensure they remain at the bottom of the electorial options.

"You say sovereignty, I say Independence... Let's call the whole thing off."

Yes, let's change Sovereignty for Independence. That will change everything. All the companies that have left Quebec will return because of this synonym change and all we be well in la la land. PQ has already done enough damage to our economy, it's time they were put out to pasture and let us repair the impoverishment they have caused.

What kind of intellect would vote for "independence" but not for "sovereignty"? This is humiliating and a insult to all Quebecers with any I.Q. at all. Talk abut "Quebec bashing". This ridicules Quebecers intelligence.
