Multiple arrests and cases of drug and alcohol overconsumption marred the opening night of the ÎleSoniq electronic and dance music festival Friday.

At least eight people were treated for intoxication of various substances, according to Montreal police, and 47 were arrested, largely for the consumption and trafficking of illegal substances.

Two weapons were also seized by police.

The inaugural ÎleSoniq festival, ending Saturday night, is a two-day electronic and dance music festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau, started by Quebec promoter Evenko.

It's time for these electronica music festivals to come to an end. Teenagers and young adults are dropping like flies all over our great country at these festivals. The use of very dangerous drugs are being handed out like candy at these events. Do you want your kids to be the next victims?
