PCB leak discovered near Reliance Power site in Pointe-Claire

Officials at the city of Pointe-Claire say they've discovered a leak of PCBs in the storm drainage system in front of the site of the Reliance Power Equipment company on Hymus Blvd.

They discovered the discharge as they were rebuilding the underground infrastructures on the boulevard in the wake of last year's discovery of a set of PCB-laden transformers on the company's premises.

The Quebec evnironment ministry oversaw the cleanup operation.

Pointe-Claire mayor Morris Trudeau says this latest situation has been temporarily dealth with by Pointe-Claire and Montreal authorities, who are now waiting for more definitive action from the environment ministry.
