A call for lower spending and donation limits in PQ leadership race

Some possible candidates want lower spending and donation limits in the PQ leadership race.

They say a level playing field is only fair.

The percieved front runner, who has yet to officially run, is media mogul Pierre-Karl Peladeau.

"What we don't want is candidates like me, who have a mortgage to pay, and if you ask people like me to get half a million dollars tomorrow, that means we may have problems to participate in the debate", said PQ MNA Alexandre Cloutier, who's not officially in the race.

Cloutier spoke with CTV News.

There could be as many seven leadership candidates, including Bernard Drainville and Jean-Francois Lisée

In the 2005 leadadership race, the spending limit for PQ candidates was half a million dollars.
