We're finding out now that Transport Quebec had received more than a dozen complaints about the construction zone in Granby that last weekend became the scene of a fatal accident.

Last Saturday, a mother and her 13-year-old daughter lost their lives when a tractor- trailer hit their vehicle, and five others, in a construction zone on highway 10 Westbound.   The father, who was driving, was also injured.

Spokesperson Noémi Vanheuverzwijn says since construction began on June 25, 2014, Transport Quebec received 15 complaints, mostly about problems with road signs and traffic congestion.

She says they did make some changes to alleviate traffic on July 30, 2014.

“We monitor construction zones very closely, they are inspected regularly,” she said.

Adding that this one was inspected one hour before the accident.

Vanheuverzwijn said there has not been any changes made to the construction zone since the accident occurred.

But she said when the Sûreté du Québec investigation and the coroner’s report are complete, if changes are needed, they will be done.
