Downtown bomb scare a false alarm

There was a bomb scare outside a large office building at 4010 Tupper street near Atwater early Thursday morning.

Police constable Raphael Bergeron said they received calls around 4:30 when a suspicious device was found on the stairs of the building.  An employee walking in told CJAD the building has offices for the Royal Bank and Simcor.

Sections of Atwater avenue and Tupper street were closed until about 6:30 as the bomb squad analyzed the device.

The team quickly concluded that it was not explosive nor dangerous and reopened the streets.

Constable Bergeron said no one in the building received threats.

He would not provide details about what the device was.
