An argument over a parking spot escalated to blows Tuesday, leaving one neighbour in the hospital with serious injuries.
The Laval neighbours had been arguing over the parking spot for weeks, but on Tuesday afternoon the dispute got physical.
As one of the neighbours went to move his vehicle he tapped the other's car, sparking a brawl where one of the men used a telescopic baton to beat the other.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Laval police spokesman Frederic Jean urges people to call police if a dispute with a neighbour gets out of control.
"Call the police immediately. Obviously there are bylaws that apply to parking, we can deal with it," he says, "You should perhaps not use a weapon to defend because this can lead to serious injuries and charges."
One of the neighbours has been banned from his apartment building. He is charged with assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, assault causing bodily harm, and mischief.
The other remains in hospital.
