A gruesome discovery this morning in the east end.
"We got a call from a citizen in Montreal who called 911 operator in Montreal because he was seeing a body floating in the water on the St Laurent river in the Pointe-Aux-Trembles area. Montreal fowarded the call to us. We sent firefighters on the river with zodiac boat to retieve the body", said Repentigny police spokesman Bruno Marier.
Marier was asked if there are signs of violence on the body, which had no identification on it.
"That's hard to say because the body was in a state of decomposition so it's really hard to say exactly what happened. It will be the coroner to tell us exactly what happened in this case", said Marier.
Authorities were unable to determine its gender.
The case is now in the hands of a coroner and an autopsy is planned.
