Pamela Porter back behind bars

The wife of Dr. Arthur Porter is going to jail in a bid to accelerate her trial. Pamela Porter surrendered to Provincial Police at the SQ headquarters in Montreal this morning.

Unlike her husband, Dr. Arthur Porter, Pamela Porter did not fight extradition from Panama on charges related to corrupt contracting for the MUHC superhospital. She returned to Quebec to face allegations that she was party to the multi-million dollar kickback scheme.

She posted a quarter-million-dollar bail and was released pending trial but since then it was discovered that the bail money came from a suspect bank account.

Porter was told to come up with another source of bail cash. In an interview with the CBC, she said that would be impossible, so she will therefore go back behind bars to await trial, hoping prosecutors will speed things up.
