Bizarre accident near Cavendish Mall
A bizarre accident Sunday afternoon behind the Cavendish Mall in Cote St. Luc.
An 82-year-old man is in hospital, after he apparently fell ill behind the wheel of his car in the mall's parking lot.
Montreal police say the accident happened at around 4:30 this afternoon. The car was in drive, moved about 200 mertres, smashed through a residential fence near the corner of Mackle and Newton, and into an in-ground pool.
A 17-year-old who witnessed the accident manged to dive in, along with some others -- including emergency medical personnel -- to retrieve the man out of the car.
He's still alive, but remains in hospital.
There were also fears for a time that the man's wife might have been in the car with her, but it seems she was at the mall the whole time.
