Every 7 hours a Canadian dies of skin cancer...this according to the Canadian Dermatology Association.

They've re-launched their attack on tanning salons...and say salons are partly to blame for the huge rise in skin cancer.

In a series of Public Service Announcements....titled "the tanning salon is not cool"...the spokesman for the CDA has some information to impart on would-be-tanners.

He says there's 10 times more skin cancer today than there was 20 years agoand that indoor tanning salons can increase the risk of melanoma in those under 30.

The ads will start in June...and officials say previous attempts to thwart indoor tanning appear to be failing.

Instead of numbers going down....tanning salons are reporting that more people are going...

The CDA will also circulate a petition on its website asking the government to enact legislation to prohibit indoor tanning among young people 18 and under.

According to Health Canada, UV beds, are five times more powerful than the sun.
