Videotron welches on Internet deal?
A Montreal man wants to sue telecommunications giant Videotron for allegedly going back on an Internet deal.
Fernand Savoie signed up with Videotron's Extreme High Speed Internet Package including telephone and cable service, attracted by the advertised unlimited downloading feature.
A few days ago, he got a letter from Videotron saying the unlimited downloading will now be limited as of October and he'd be charged anything over that cap.
Union des consommateurs is the consumer watchdog group helping to launch a class action lawsuit.
"It's not good marketing to do one thing and do the other."
Spokesman Charles Tanguay.
"People who download a lot might have extra charges that could end with a bill that is double at the end of the month and that is unacceptable."
Videotron did not return calls from CJAD.
