Eight people were injured in a particularly intense fire overnight, 3 of them members of a same family.

The fire was in an apartment building at the corner of Fullum and de-la-Riviere in the East-end.

The first firefighters arriving at the scene managed to rescue a 10-year-old disabled girl from a back bedroom.  She suffered from smoke inhalation,  but her condition is not considered life-threatening.

Among the other people injured, a woman and her 2 children who were treated for smoke-inhalation as well as for superficial burns and cuts.

The fire, which took about 100 firefighters to put out, apparently started on the building's ground-floor but there's no word on the cause.  Damage is estimated at over 200-thousand dollars.
