Saul Itzhayek returns to Canada after 10-months in squalid India prison

Montreal man, Saul Itzhayek who spent 10 months in an Indian jail says he will work to clear his name but first he's looking forward to rest and a shower.

Saul Itzhayek is back on Canadian soil after being freed from an isolated and violent Indian jail earlier this week.

Itzhayek spoke to reporters after landing at Montreal's Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport this afternoon.

Itzhayek was arrested by Indian police in May 2007 for an alleged visa violation after he'd crossed into India from Nepal.

An Indian court upheld Itzhayek's conviction on Tuesday but reduced his sentence to the time he had already served.

His family and supporters who were at the airport to greet him say they will do everything to ensure Itzhayek's name is cleared.
