ADM and Lachine clash over night flights
Thu, 2008-05-08 15:08.
Dozens of Lachine residents sat in on the annual general meeting of Montreal's airport authority demanding the ADM stop night flights out of Trudeau airport. They're concerned about noise and air pollution and the disruption of their quality of life.
From boarding yellow school buses with signs reading 'CLOSE DORVAL AIRPORT!" to filling the cavernous chamber inside the ICAO building on University made their opposition know.
One protester called the ADM "morally bankrupt."
At issue: night flights out of Trudeau airport and the path some of those flights are taking right over the borough.
Some residents say one solution would be to send all night flights to Mirabel.
Another option would be to stop all night flights.
The ADM says its looking at measures to reduce noise but it stresses that what it's doing, is not illegal.
