Human Rights Commission won't hear complaint against Montreal imam

The Canadian Human Rights Commission has refused to investigate a complaint from the editor of an online magazine against a Montreal imam.

Marc Lebuis of Point de bascule filed a complaint for hate propoganda on the Internet against an imam who wrote, among other things, that homosexuals and Jews "spread corruption and chaos on Earth" and that the immodesty of non-Muslim women leads to "rape, venereal diseases, AIDS, herpes, single-parent families, crime, poverty, ignorance" and more.

The Commission says the majority of references in the writings of Imam Abou Hammaad Sulaiman Dameus Al-Hayiti are "broad", and don't target an "identifiable group", and says other references don't seem to promote "hatred" or "contempt," and therefore don't meet the requirements for a complaint.
