The high-profile Quebec billionaire businessman who doesn't believe in marriage and is being taken to court by his ex-common law partner told his side of the story today.

The wealthy entrepreneur, looking very casual in a black, blue and gray striped sweater and black jeans,  testified he told his ex right from the start that he didn't believe in marriage, adding he told the same thing to his previous lovers and even his new girlfriend, with whom he had two children.

His ex, a 34-year-old South American native 15 years his junior, had three kids with him over the ten years they were together. They broke up in 2001.

He's paying 35-thousand dollars in child support payments.

But she wants 56-thousand dollars a month in alimony plus a 50-million dollar lump sum, contesting the federal law and the Quebec Civil Code distinguishing married couples from common law couples, calling them unfair.

The man denied her allegations that he often introduced her as his wife, saying he called her his girlfriend.

He testified that he thought he had certain rights and choices in Quebec, saying while he respects those who believe in marriage, he says it's not his cup of tea, and that he doesn't feel he's guilty of anything. He insists that his only concern in all of this is protecting the children.

Under Quebec law, the two can't be identified.
