A Quebecker who designed an Ultralight plane has been killed in a crash in New York state.

The 56-year-old owner of the firm Explorer Aeronautique, Bernard Laferriere of Saint-Gerard-des-Laurentides (in the Laurentians) was flying to Florida, to introduce his new 340-kilo plane, the Eco-Flyer, which was supposed to be on the market at the end of this summer.

His plane went down Monday afternoon in a wooded area in Eaton, New York.
