Quebec spammers on the hook for millions

Bad new if you've bought a weight loss pill from spammers.
A U.S. court has ordered an international spamming ring, which includes a couple of Quebecers and two Quebec companies, to cough up the $3.7 million they bilked out of customers who bought their bogus weight loss products.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission settled with three defendants in the casebut could not come to an agreement with Xavier Ratelle and Abaragidan Gnanendran, two Quebec men.
Two Quebec companies could also not reach an agreement with the FTC.
The marks the first time the FTC invoked the U.S. Safe Web Act, a law designed to protect consumers from cross-border fraud.
