Ambulance technicians put pressure tactics on hold

A looming ambulance technician strike in the province has apparently been pushed back until Thursday, at the earliest.

A union spokesperson says significant progress was made during talks on Saturday, and that the workers are putting their pressure tactics on hold.

The three major unions representing ambulance technicians have a strike mandate and can, in theory, begin strike action at any moment.

Legally, though, they cannot strike since their work is considered an essential service.

The sticking point in negociations remains the integration of the province's new salary scale for the workers.
