Father John Walsh

Birth place ~Born in Montreal

What's the best thing about living in Montreal?
The best thing about Montreal is the multicultural nature of Montreal and the inter-faith spirit of co-operation among all people.

Most memorable moment in your radio career?
There are so many ...  interviewing Ken MccColm who walked across Canada with his guide dog and wrote a book Eating The Elephant ...  Interviewing Dame Cecily Saunders, the founder of Palliative Care at St. Joseph's Hospice in London, England in Montreal to receive her 19th honorary doctorate from McGill University ... encountering and later interviwing John Walsh from America's Most Wanted and having the same name brought a moment of confustion ... interviewing Jimmie Holland from Sloan-Kettering Cancer Resreach Hospital in New York and her book The Human Side of Cancer  ... interviewing Izzie Weisfeld and assisting him to establish a rapport with the Romanian Government and reuniting Holocaust survivors and then brnging about major changes to the teaching of the Holocaust in Rumania... and a myriad of local Montrealers who alwauys amaze me by thier contributions to society...

Favorite person you interviewed and why?
The favorite person I interviewed was Susan Armstrong, co-founder of Missing Childrens Network Canada ...  because both of us recognized the interview as magic moments.  I later tried to write her story with a book title: In The Trunk of a Car ... then I was invited to be a Board member and served for two years as President of the Baord ... she was a truly amzing person and undertook an amazing life of saving the lives of children ...

Other than Montreal, where else would you love to live someday?
My all-time favorite place to live would be Israel or Mayrhofen in Austria, in Canada it would be Ottawa, Calgary, or Victoria... but I wouldn't discount PEI.

When you have friends visit Montreal from elsewhere for the first time, what's the one thing you insist they see/do
I always make sure they see the Mountain and the lights at night then there is the Church tour to Saint Joseph's Oratory, Mary Queen of the World Cathedral and Notre Dame dowtown walking tour and Old Montreal, especially in the summer so much to see and doain Motrneal a trip to the Laruentians is a must in the Fall Eastern Townships are also a great getaway.

What's the weirdest job you've ever had?
I ran the elevator at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel  ...  was a box boy and cashier at Dominion Stores (they no longer exist) ... and was a courier for CIP going back and forth from Dorchester Street offices to the Streamship Lines for Bills of lading  ...

Favorite Hobby/Pastime?

Jesus, the Christ without doubt ... and a whole list of people who ahve infleunced my way of thinking and giving me a ehalthy view of lfie.

If they made a movie about you, what actor would you like to play you?
They won't so this is a ridiculous question.

What's your #1 pet peeve?
The way that people walk hom with cariages from the Supermarkets and the way tthey throw about and leave them anywhere and then they don't take the time to put them in order where they are asked to store them they are worth over $300.00 each.

Whom do you admire the most?

Jesus and then the many who have adopted a passvie non-violent approach to remedying the world of its many ills Jean Vanier, Martin Luther King, etc...
