About the show

Why do Russian female weightlifters gobble stanozolol?  Are men genetically-driven to rule the remote?  And just what form of cryogenics keeps Dick Clark looking so young?  These are just some of the scientific questions that Dr. Joe could lay to rest, if he wasn't so busy answering the burning questions that are on your mind, and his.

Dr. Joe has the answers to all of your questions about the chemistry of everyday life. Plus interviews galore with leading scientists from around the world.

Sunday November 8th

Dr. Joe Schwarcz Show from 3p-4p will have guest Paul A. Offit, M.D., a pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases and an expert on vaccines, immunology, and virology. Dr. Offit will discuss H1N1 and all the myths surrounding the swine flu vaccine.

Dr. Offit is the co-inventor of a rotavirus vaccine that has been credited with saving hundreds of lives every day. Offit is the Maurice R. Hilleman Professor of Vaccinology, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. He has been a member of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

Offit has published more than 130 papers in medical and scientific journals in the areas of rotavirus-specific immune responses and vaccine safety, and is the author or co-author of books on vaccines, vaccination, and antibiotics. He is one of the most public faces of the scientific consensus that vaccines have no association with autism, and has, as a result, attracted controversy and a substantial volume of hate mail and occasional death threats.

Dr. Joe Schwarcz weighs in on the H1N1 vaccine debate
